The Kuro collection is my debut furniture project.
As an interdisciplinary designer and makers studio I create visually strong content through materiality and shape. The inspiration for the Kuro collection came from my recent projects in leatherwork. I was experimenting with stretching leather onto wooden frames into different shapes. The contrast between the static frame and the organic leather inspired me to create a furniture collection that reflects this tension. The subtle curves of the table top with its visually almost zero thickness are flowing smoothly into the column shaped legs. The black burned oak surface is giving no distraction in order to leave space for the shapes to act.
What started as an idea of materiality translated through shape resulted in a furniture collection.
