" The design of the Opper lounge chair is based on a power balance between lines and weights. It is a contrasting interplay between the lightness of the seat and the raw brutality of the Carrara marble base, and between the coldness of the marble and the softness of the leather. These two elements combine together to create a symetry of curves and shapes, with a vertical leather back and a horizontal marble tablet. To create a sharp contrast with the curving shape of the seat and to add some stress to the general silhouette of the chair, the core axis being highlighted by the slight shifts in the materials used. The general shape of the seat is sharp yet comfort has been taken into account. To optimize comfort, the seat is filled with foam whose density has been minutely engineered and whose plumpness constrasts with its visual rigidity. Inspired by the motorcycle saddles of the 1970s, the quilted leather adds to the impression of comfort and of sophistication. The marble base gives off an impression of massiveness yet when looking at it from behind, its carving out reveals itself like a theater set, or a recess into which cushions, magazines or even a blanket can be stored. The seat can be removed from the marble to optimize transport.
