Finishes :
Polished and patinated copper and charred oak
Each piece is unique, handmade by the artist, signed and dated
"Converting massive copper sheets into luminous, warm and elegant designs both motivated and challenged me for the creation of those pieces. The result is a series of unique objects that are thin, slightly bent, with metal legs that support a resin structure. Two materials that are in direct opposition, with their different techniques and their different textures, combine into a single design. The making of these pieces of furniture is like tailored, bespoke haute couture to me. Every single object is handmade from start to finish, with extreme attention to detail and time-consumming techniques. When you think about the shape and the movement of furniture, you start to realize that lines can appear to be drawn or painted on in their apparent simplicity and that those lines, thin and dynamic as they are, can be round-capped and without sharp angles. Even if those shapes usually come from the casting of a precious metal for only material, the aim is to find back the apparent coldness of metal. Brass sheets are cut and sown together with specific welding techniques that are left apparent in some cases and hidden in others. This process allows me to create not only a stable structure but also a unique look. Every surface is then polished in order to convey a soft and smooth sense of touch that contrasts with the light reflectivity. The general aspect of the object is light and timeless."
