Rye straw inlay on wood
Pauline Guerrier, lives and works between Aubervilliers ( ateliers Poush ) and Lisbon. Born in Clamart in 1990, she is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
A nomadic multi-disciplinary artist, she sets up her studio wherever she travels: in Italy, the Maghreb, Portugal, Chile, Benin... She observes and learns from weavers,
glassblowers, stone engravers, glaziers, mosaicists... in a perpetual quest for knowledge of artisanal techniques.
The artist has created this ensemble as a pantheistic liturgy, proposing a universal mythology composed of her own messages and symbols linked to the iconography of the great religions and spiritualities.
Here, the composition holds the curve in Majesty at the very heart of the creative process, through the use of rye straw strands tamed and assembled to bend, but also through the representation of dance in an almost circular, rhythmic movement, like an infinite spiral, blending fish with curled contours and rounded human silhouettes, both united in an almost levitation, creating an unexpected osmosis evocative of a perfect communion between man and nature.
